Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL - Energy's Sustainable Use group is seeking a Senior Engineer with strong interpersonal, technical, energy, lighting, energy audit, organizational and communication skills to work with an engineering staff in support of commercial, industrial, government, institutional and non-profit organizations. This position is based out of our Chalfont, PA office.

Tasks may include
  • Technical and eligibility reviews of various energy saving projects which will include performance of energy/ASHRAE audits and site-specific engineering analysis and evaluation of energy efficiency projects for commercial, government, institution and industrial utility customers. Commercial audits and project focus will involve lighting and controls, HVAC equipment, complex central plant systems and building automation systems. Industrial and government audits and projects will focus on process equipment and systems, such as pumps, fans, compressed air systems, boilers, furnaces, heat exchangers and process control systems.
  • Technical assistance in identifying and evaluating energy efficiency improvements and demand reduction opportunities for commercial and industrial utility customers and trade allies.
  • Interacting with utility customers and trade allies to address questions or concerns about qualifying equipment or the energy efficiency incentive programs.
  • Working with the facility owner’s design teams to improve energy efficiency of new construction and retrofit projects.
  • Presentations to a variety of organizations including utility customers, trade allies and utility management on energy efficient technologies and energy efficiency incentive programs.
  • Working closely with DNV KEMA leadership and utility personnel to monitor energy efficiency program results and quality and to develop recommendations to improve the programs as needs are identified


Position Qualifications

What we’re asking
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 5-7 years of relevant energy efficiency experience
  • ASHRAE Certified Auditors preferred, auditing experience required
  • A proven track record in the energy engineering field is preferred
  • In-depth project management experience
  • PE and an energy efficiency background with a solid knowledge of energy efficiency technologies and practices are desired.
  • CEM certification and experience with end-use metering instrumentation is preferred
  • Strong English communications skills as demonstrated by experience with presentations, papers or other public forums.
  • Strong report-writing skills, budget management experience and computer skills including MS Office are desirable.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Willingness and ability to successfully pass a background investigation and drug screen
