Job Title: Energy Manager
Job Summary:
The Energy
Manager (EM) is responsible for the successful implementation of energy
programs associated with C&W’s objectives and to support the client
account teams’ efforts in achieving their respective goals. The EM will
work to ensure that existing and new initiatives are delivered in a
timely and professional manner that is consistent with an overall
strategic plan. In this capacity, the EM will work closely with
C&W’s engineering, facility and project management teams to ensure a
seamless delivery of these services. The goal is to enhance energy
conservation, reduce utility costs and support clients overall energy
management initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide
the vision, organizational strategy and focus for advancing energy
management efforts throughout the portfolio including energy
conservation programs and implementation of supply side and demand side
utility programs
- Provide
the leadership for the portfolio wide energy management plans and
integrate the processes into facilities and project management
operations.
- Serve
as the internal leader and “go to” expert for energy management,
monitoring emerging trends, programs and issues, communicating and
educating others on relevant topics.
- Research
and evaluate options, present recommendations, and implement programs
for reducing energy and utility usage and the associated costs.
- Maintain
knowledge of available energy and utility incentive programs; analyze
projects in relation to total life cost and prepare proposals for
presentation to our client. Prepare and submit applications as appropriate.
- Facilitate
a portfolio wide energy benchmarking program using EPA Energy Star
Portfolio Manager. Work with the facilities managers and chief building
engineers to ensure that the highest possible scores are achieved. Where
appropriate maintain the property’s Energy Star label.
- Develop
a data tracker of utility usage for the portfolio and identify energy
“Outliers”. Develop conservation plans to address high energy users.
- Keep
current with applicable codes, laws and requirements to ensure
regulatory compliance and effective management of risk and liability for
both client and C&W.
- Develop
management routines with engineering, facility and project management
teams including participation in standing meetings and reporting
requirements.
- Develop long term strategies that include:
- Energy Efficiency Program Design & Implementation
- Energy Assessments & Analysis Programs
- HVAC System Assessment
- Building Commissioning/Retro-Commissioning Services
- Demand Management and Demand Response
- Supply side management and procurement strategies
- State-of-the-Art Lighting Design and controls
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Energy Management or related subject. Equivalent experience with additional certification(s) from Association of Energy Engineers.
- Certified Energy Manager required.
- 10+ years managing energy and utility programs
- Experience with energy conservation incentive programs provided by various utilities and government agencies
- Demonstrated experience implementing and managing “energy efficiency” programs
- Familiar with most recent local, state and federal energy codes, laws and requirements
- Proven experience in program implementation including documentation development (i.e. instructions, templates and reports)
- Possess analytical and planning skills necessary to drive program success
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work with and motivate team participation
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with ability to present to client senior management
- Must be willing and able to travel at least 30% of the time
- Microsoft Office proficiency and ability to generate and present reports in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Drivers license and the ability to physically inspect properties required
