Local Unit & Position Description

DNV GL - Energy’s Sustainable Use group is seeking an Entry-Level Energy Efficiency Engineer to join our team to provide commercial and industrial customers with technical and financial support to make their facilities more energy efficient. This position is based out of our Okemos, MI office.

Tasks may include
  • Review and verify energy savings calculations and guide other staff in the best practices for various energy savings technologies with a particular emphasis on lighting but also including HVAC, fans, pumps, air compression and industrial process use.
  • Consults with facility managers on energy efficiency options
  • Plan and deliver presentations at meetings and training events for trade allies and customers, clients, and others
  • Identify opportunities for energy savings and demand reduction
  • Complete technical and financial analyses
  • Prepare reports in accordance with client standards
  • Perform site-specific engineering analysis and evaluation of energy efficiency projects and programs involving industrial process equipment, such as pumps, fans and compressed air systems, complex central plant systems and advanced HVAC equipment
Position Qualifications
What we’re asking
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • An educational emphasis on energy and/or energy experience is strongly preferred
  • EIT is desirable
  • Proficiency with database and analysis tools such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Access is desired
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills for customer communication desired
  • Individual should display a positive, team-oriented attitude to match our friendly work environment
  • Must have own vehicle or ability to rent a vehicle.  Mileage and expenses will be reimbursed
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time (primarily local travel)
  • Willingness and ability to pass a background investigation and drug test
  • Physical Requirements- what physical aspects are required to do this job? I.e., ability to lift up to 40 pounds
